Dave Matchette
Senior Pastor
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." - Galatians 5:1
ROLE
I have the privilege of helping our church understand and live out the life-changing gospel of Jesus. The gospel is good news that affects every area of your life, for God’s glory and your joy. The gospel is the entrance way to salvation, and also the framework for growing more like Christ. The gospel can set you free! I handle the majority of the preaching, communicate the vision of the church on behalf of the Elders, and mentor and equip our people to serve the Lord with joy and awe.
STORY
I grew up in a good church, but faith for me was basically spiritual life insurance. During my college years, I was at a summer camp, and I was reading the gospel of Mark. In it Jesus declares, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” And that’s when God showed me His amazing grace. Since I began that journey, I have seen a faithful and merciful God do greater things than I would’ve ever guessed or imagined. I know where I’ve come from, where I’m going, and the savior Jesus who made all of that possible. Can I tell you more about Him?
FAMILY
Sarah and I met in college and were married in 2004. We have three unpredictable sons (Kenan, Ezra, Jude) and one beautiful daughter (Eden). Our family goal and motto is, "Love God, Love Others." My children are storytellers, LEGO enthusiasts, and Eagles fans, just like daddy. Unlike daddy, they don’t enjoy a strong cup of coffee, but I would love the chance to share one with you.

ROLE
I have the privilege of occasional preaching, teaching a Sunday morning Life Group, focusing on pastoral care and discipleship, serving with our elders, and supporting and mentoring the pastoral staff.
STORY
I grew up in a Christian home and came to know the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior at the age of 8. God has used the local church in my life as a primary source of spiritual growth and direction. During 46 years of vocational ministry, I have served as a youth pastor, senior pastor, Bible college professor, a pastor to missionaries in east Africa, and an interim pastor.
FAMILY
I have been married to Linda since 1968. We have 4 grown sons and 14 grandchildren, My greatest joy is to see my children and grandchildren "walking in the truth" (2 John 4).
Aria Mavvaji
Pastor to Young Adults
ROLE
I am the Pastor to Young Adults of Cornerstone Church. It is my privilege and responsibility to care for the young adults (ages 18-39) of Cornerstone through teaching God's word, praying, and discipling. I lead the RISE and THRIVE groups. I am also involved in the youth ministry. In addition, I occasionally have the opportunity to preach to the entire congregation on Sunday mornings. My desire is to see everyone at Cornerstone, especially the young adults, grown in love and devotion to God by becoming and reproducing disciple-makers of Jesus Christ.
STORY
I was born into a family with mixed religions. My mother was a Christian and my dad was an agnostic from a Muslim background. Neither pushed me to become one or the other; in fact, I was raised apathetic toward God. I spent the first ten years of my life doing “normal” American kid things like playing sports and video games. When I was ten my dad died of a brain tumor and my mom moved my sister and me to Texas so we could be close to family. When I was 13 my mom sent me to a Christian camp. It was at this camp that I heard about Jesus for the first time. I didn’t understand what the leaders were talking about during Bible study so I asked my Cabin Leader to explain. Later that night I prayed with my Cabin Leader and he led me to place my faith in the saving power of Jesus’ death on the cross, burial, and bodily resurrection from the dead.
Since then, God has called me to serve his church as a pastor. In the summer of 2016 God sent my family on our next adventure for his glory by moving us from Dallas to Skippack. We are excited about how God will use us for his glory in Skippack.
FAMILY
I met my wife, Kate, while we were both still in high school. We dated through college and were married in the summer of 2009. We have two precious daughters, Clara and Amelia. Clara is as sweet as she is articulate and Amelia is just beginning to show her fireball personality. Our greatest prayer for our children is that they love the Lord with all their heart.
